Who is behind this blog?
Hello, my name is Amos Chan. I’m the person behind this blog. I write and maintain this blog in my spare time. I live and work in Hong Kong. I’ve been married for 3 years now and my wife is from Malaysia. How did we meet? Well, like some of our friends and many of you, we met on the Internet - ICQ!
I love exploring the Web for new trends, ideas, technologies that could help make our world a better place. I research a lot on the Web on topics I’m interested in, such as life, career, success, personal development, new technologies, new trends, politics, gossips, … etc. I mainly use Google as my search tool because it’s simple and fast to use. (Well, depending on what, sometimes I use Yahoo and AltaVista.)
What’s my profession?
Well, I don’t know.
I was a web developer back in the dotcom era, but now I run my own business dealing with product sourcing and manufacturing. What a change! Yeah, I know. I enjoy doing it though it’s not easy! Basically, this is what I do in case you may need my help in the future. I help customers source products from mainly China and help produce and manage their products until delivery. Most of my clients are from Europe, though some are from the US and South East Asia.
Speaking of business and web technologies, people, businesses, and the web have all evolved a lot over the past few years! More and more people nowadays are generating their business/income via the Web. While general public are relying on the Web for information, news, research, entertainment, gossips, social networking, … etc., businesses are becoming more reliant on the Web for sales/leads generation, branding, marketing, business networking, document storage/retrieval, … etc. And, technologies? Of course they are also becoming more and more business-friendly. I’m glad to see that these things are happening. So, one thing that may be of interest or importance for you to know is … the fact that people are getting more dependent on the web to achieve their respective objectives suggests something: an equal (business) opportunity for you to make something out of it?
Hmmm … it’s something for you to ponder over the next days, weeks, or years, huh?
Why this blog?
OK, why this blog? I created this blog in hopes that it will help others learn about life and crisis they may be facing, and as a result help improve their lives. I want to make people aware that life crisis does not just happen to those middle-aged people any more but any persons of any age living in this digital age! I want to share my ideas, thoughts, questions, … about life, failure, success, career, family, friendships, … etc. that I learn from my own experiences and others so we can all learn from each other and grow together through meaningful conversations. Learning things about life, people and relationships are important to me. I believe by sharing life experiences and knowledge with others, we don’t just help others grow and succeed in their life but ourselves as well! Those who help others help themselves! Do you believe it?
I’m a big advocate of self-learning, life-long learning, and continuous personal development throughout life. I know that learning stimulates our mind, keeps a person healthy, and can add a lot of joy and satisfaction to one’s life by exploring aspects of life that are of interest and importance to us. So, my goal for this blog is to deliver valuable posts that have some meaning to people and not a bunch of useless or news related daily tidbits (although sometimes it’s good to relax with some tidbits.) Over time, I’d like to develop this blog with more specific topics, but am currently exploring what gets the most attention and interest. I’d be happy to hear new ideas from you by email, in comments below, or on any posts for that matter. I hope you will enjoy and can learn from all the posts on this blog site.
Mission of this blog
- To make people aware that life crisis does not just happen to those we know as middle-aged people (midlife crisis) any more, but twentysomething young adults as well (quarterlife crisis) in this digital age.
( i.e. Life crisis is no longer unique to middle-aged people any more! It could happen to all people of all ages because the world we live in today is no longer a world that our grandparents or even our current parents know of. More will be unveiled as we blog together!
) - To help people go through or get out of their life crisis by providing useful help/tips/ideas on issues they’re facing in their life, such as career, relationships, … and by providing a platform where people can turn to for emotional support / help / tips.
- To guide young despaired people into a bright, right life path through advice/ideas/helpful tips shared by me and other participants of this blog.
Why should you listen to me or people participating in this blog?
Well, you don’t have to. No one can force you to do anything. You have the liberty to choose what you want to read, what you want to speak, to whom you want to listen, whom you want to be friend with, whom you want to be married with, … et cetera et cetera FOR YOUR LIFE! It’s completely your personal choice. But be sure you know that all the outcomes of our life are determined by this very sacred human right - the freedom of choice or free will, that we exercise on issues of life - everyday!
With that said, however, I trust that readers of this blog are people like you who are serious and care about their life. They would be very glad to share their experiences, personal advice, and/or tips to help you grow and succeed in your life. Let’s all be an “active participant” rather than an “onlooker“, of life.
(Hey, I think there is one good reason you should read this blog regularly, or listen to me or participants of this blog: the advice/opinions/tips are FREE OF CHARGE here! How much do you think you have to pay for professional advice?
So, you have nothing (except time) to lose but would probably gain a lot of other valuable things from being an active participant of this blog, such as new like-minded friends from around the world.
)
Who’s this blog for?
So, this blog is NOT for everyone! It’s for :
- People who are serious about life, success, and happiness.
- People who are facing some kinds of life crisis in their life.
What’s this blog not?
This blog site is NOT a place for professional guidance or advice for your important life decision making, because I’m not trained for it by profession. It’s just a personal journal where I express my thoughts, express my own personal opinion, interact with others on interesting topics, and make notes of what I understand to be factual information for those who may find useful for their information. Comments and blog entries posted on this site by me and other participants are only opinions and thoughts freely yet responsibly expressed, NOT professional advice. If you have any issue with any blog items placed on this blog site, I can be contacted here. Click here to read me first if you have not.
Subscribe to this Blog
You’re welcome to regularly come back to this blog from a bookmark (Ctrl+D for Firefox and IE, Ctrl+T for Opera), but nowadays, there are much easier ways to get updates from a site (especially blog sites). This is done by subscribing to an RSS feed from the site. Basically, as the site gets new posts or content, the RSS feed will update your feed reader. I personally recommend using Google Reader, since you have it online from any PC and it easily organizes all of your feeds. You can also subscribe to the RSS feeds in Outlook, Firefox, IE, etc.
You can subscribe on the RSS Feed page to all content, or comments left by others on specific topics.
How do you contact me?
I’m very open to new ideas, constructive criticisms, questions, … etc. Please feel free to contact me here.
Enjoy your reading!
Thanks & Regards,
Amos

Tsuro
Hi Tsuro,
Thanks for your encouragement and support!
It is my hope that by sharing my thoughts about life and things in it, people can get inspired and continue to strive for a better life, a better future, instead of feeling bad about our own past - failures. Yes, the feeling of being a failure in the past may be true, but that only serves as a stepping stone to greater success at the end, I realize. It’s only temporary failure. Like Havelock Ellis said: It is on our failures that we base a new and different and better success.
Take care,
Amos
